Casela Nature Park

The Casela Nature and Reserve Park is located just after the town of Flic en Flac, near the village of Cascavelle. It houses more than 1500 birds of different species as well as lions, zebras, giant tortoises, deers, tigers, etc.

A lot of great touristic activities are also offered there such as zip-lining, walks with lions, quad rides, photo safaris, Segway rides, canyoning, via ferrata, etc. It is one of the best nature parks of the island and is well worth a visit.

 

Port-Louis

Port-Louis is the capital of the island of Mauritius. It is a bustling city where everything can be found. Thus it is a great place to go shopping in Mauritius during your holidays.

Quite a variety of vendors can be found there: from the street hawkers to big commercial centers tailored for tourists such as the Caudan Waterfront.

Tourists willing to go off the beaten track will be delighted by the treasures that they will be able to discover in the crowded streets of Chinatown or near the central market like SSR Street, La Corderie Street, Bourbon Street, etc.

 

Le Morne

Le Morne mountain is one of the landmarks of the district of Black river that’s really hard to miss. This mountain is best known as being the symbol of runaway slaves’ struggle for freedom.

It is a well-known spot for kitesurfing and windsurfing, and has beautiful white sandy beaches.

Other attractions of the area are an 18-hole golf course of Le Paradis Hotel located near beautiful Mauritian hotels and horse riding trips which are available at the Haras du Morne, who offer horseback excursions around Le Morne Mountain.

Rhumerie de Chamarel

In the South West part of Mauritius, in the heart of a fertile valley, lies the Rhumerie de Chamarel. Situated in the vicinity of the “Colored Earths of Chamarel”, one of Mauritius’ most popular tourist attractions and the place to visit while in Mauritius, the road leading to the Rhumerie is lined with vast plantations of sugar cane growing side by side with pineapples and other tropical fruits.

La Preneuse Beach

The beach of La Preneuse is located in Black River on the west coast of Mauritius. Known for the Martello Tower located next to the parking lot and the old cannons that are present along the white sandy beach like a trip back in time to the era of piracy and invasions of enemy ships. The cannons are the main attraction of the beach, popular among the little ones, the beach of La Preneuse is away from the bustle and mass tourism. Vanille Réserve des Mascareignes

La Vanille Crocodile Park: The «Vanille Réserve des Mascareignes» nature park, is located in the South of Mauritius.

This part of the island has, more than any part, kept a feeling of “old Mauritius”, whether it is the manner of the people, their traditions or even the unspoilt scenery.

 

Cascavelle Shopping Village

Situated in the West coast of Mauritius, consisting of 10,000m² of shopping area. The shopping village includes approximately 2,500m² for anchor tenants, Monoprix supermarket and one food court, a pub/restaurant/discotheque.

Lacaz is open on Tuesday, Thursday, Sunday 10h to 22h. On Wednesday, Friday, Saturday 10h till late.

In the middle of the vivid city of Flic en Flac there is a big Spar supermarket with a wide range of goods.

Directly next to Spar you can find Pasadena Village, where various nice shops are located.

Horses racing – Champs de Mars

Black River Gorges

The district of Black River is known for its great private villas, big game fishing, Mauritian hotels and nature reserves.

One of the best-known nature reserves of the island is the Black River Gorges Nature reserve. It covers an area of 67.54 square kilometers and is home to the island’s last remaining rainforest.

It is a great place for hiking, as it has about 60 kilometers of hiking trails.

Chamarel

One of the most famous places of the island of Mauritius which is also known as the land of the seven-colored earths. It is a geological formation made of a number of sand dunes of different distinct colors which, strangely, cannot mix. The dunes do not wash off either.

The area of Chamarel is also well known for its forests and nature. Several host tables can be found in the area, as well as nice little restaurants. It’s also a great place to go hiking and cycling.

Banana Beach Club

The Banana Beach Club is very well known for its natural tropical setting and friendly atmosphere. The Banana is without a doubt the best known bar in Mauritius and “the place” on the island for live music and just chilling out. The Banana has an extensive menu featuring fresh fruit cocktails made from local fruits and the best Mojito on the island. 


The Banana is the only bar on the island with a fine restaurant. The Gourmet Grill has the advantage of an extensive menu and being part of the Banana’s wonderful ambiance. Tamarin

The area is a great place for whale and dolphin watching as those cetaceans can be often found cruising outside the lagoon. The beach of Tamarin is well known as a kite-surfing and surfing spot. Tamarin is also known for its beautiful 18-hole golf course of Tamarina Golf Estate situated in the beginning of Tamarin.

 

Flic en Flac

The village of Flic en Flac is a highly touristic area of the Black-River district. High standards hotels can be found nearby such as:

- La Pirogue Resort and Spa Hotel

- Pearl Beach Resort and Spa Hotel

And most of them have direct access to the gorgeous beach and lagoon of Flic en Flac or Wolmar. It is a good place to go shopping as well, with several shopping centers, souvenir shops. The night-life is great as well, with several night clubs, restaurants and a casino.

Flic en Flac village is found in the district of Black River on the western coast of the island of Mauritius, about 15 km south of Port Louis the Capital of Mauritius. It is found between the village of Albion from the north and Tamarin and Black River from the south. Flic en Flac is located along the west coastline, with many hotels and villas having direct beach access.

The drive from Flic en Flac to Port Louis takes about 30 minutes, while the drive to the airport takes about 1 hour. Flic en Flac has a good bus route leading to key locations in Mauritius. You can easily get the bus to Port Louis or to other cities such as Quatre Bornes, Curepipe and can venture further across the island.
